Being generally active, moving around, and exercise have obvious physical health benefits especially when recovering from surgery.  They contribute to improving blood flow and circulation.  However, the mental health benefits of being active and exercising might be even more significant.

Benefits of Being Active

Exercise promotes chemicals in the brain that improve your mood and make you more relaxed.  Specifically, the brain releases feel-good chemicals called endorphins throughout the body.  Physical activity reduces anxiety and depression and enhances self-esteem.  Boosts energy and brainpower.

Regular exercise can have a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, ADHD and more.  It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood.  And you don’t have to be a fitness fanatic to reap the benefits.
